Archivist Entertainment announces the Seattle Debut of Healing US in U.S. Major Cities Tour Seattle, WA — Saturday, May 20th, 2023

“Health insurance companies are in the business to make money and they will do whatever they can to avoid paying claims.” — Wendell Potter, former Cigna VP, Author of “Deadly Spin,” Co-Author of “Nation on The Take”

Narrated by Susan Sarandon, Healing US makes the case for American healthcare to be accessible to all — through a single-payer system. The film provides arguments for universal healthcare from the standpoint of liberals, conservatives, doctors, public health officials, ex-Insurance executives, families who have suffered under our current system, veterans, and patients.

“While watching Healing US, my hope is that audiences will be able to see past the politics that divide us and connect with the basic humanity that is shared by all Americans,” says Director Kenny Ballentine.

A strong set of diverse voices highlight each of the issues of the current American healthcare system, each with the same underlying message that good healthcare is all about taking care of each other.

“This isn’t left versus right. This is, this is us as individuals, as people with families, people with loved ones. So it’s all of us together. We’re all in this fight together.” — Amy Vilela (D), Former House Representative Candidate, Founder of Healthcare-Now! Las Vegas Chapter, mother & activist as seen in Knock Down the House (2019)

Using an all-star lineup of heavy-hitters in the healthcare movement, Healing US walks through all key points of the arguments in favor of a universal, single-payer healthcare system.

“I’m a traditional, conservative market oriented person, but I have long since realized that market forces do not efficiently distribute health care. No one buys an appendectomy because it is on sale this week. In the US, our pretense that markets work in health care is killing our patients and bankrupting our families.” — Joseph Q Jarvis MD MSPH — former Republican candidate for Utah Senate and House and Lt. Gov, former State Health Officer in Nevada, author of The Purple World and For the Hurt of My People

“I can’t receive lunch from a pharmaceutical representative because that might influence my prescribing habits. But you can be someone who is elected by the people to represent them, but you can receive donations from corporations? It’s just not right.” — Dr. Victoria Dooley, MD

The filmmakers behind Healing US are coming to the Seattle screening as part of their traveling theatrical distribution phase, and encourage those interested to claim their free tickets as soon as possible.

“No human should ever be denied a medication that was a known suicidal risk — or any medication — because they missed a $20 payment.” — Scott Desnoyers, father & activist

Healing US is a rallying cry to the American people. We are reclaiming control of our hearts and bodies. We are redefining what it means to be American. Healing US challenges the audience to care — not only about ourselves, but also our friends, family, and loved ones.

“If you are always willing to vote for the lesser of two evils, what that means is that you’re always gonna get the lesser evil every single time. …Something has to be different. … Because Medicare for all with 88% of Democrats and 49% of Republicans and 70% of Americans overall is an American policy.” — Brianna Joy Gray, JD., Bernie Sanders 2020 National Press Secretary, Contributing Editor at Current Affairs, Former Editor at The Intercept, Host of the Bad Faith Podcast, Co-Host of Rising from The Hill

Join the filmmakers and team behind Healing US at the historic Raisbeck Performance Hall at the Ivey on Boren in Seattle on Saturday, May 20th, 2023.

“This will surely be an important vehicle for us to use in moving forward in the fight on all fronts battle to win actual CARE for EVERY resident in this country” — Donna Marie Ellington, co-founder of Demand Universal Healthcare
